The Department of Spiritual Care at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital hosted all all-day seminar on Thursday teaching ministers and lay persons how to integrate spiritual care into a patient's recovery.
The ever is called Operation BALM and focuses on teaching religious figures within hospitals how to better serve their patients in a variety of ways.
Father Don Hutchens with Saint John's Church of Americus says spiritual recovery is just as important as physical and mental recovery so it's important to learn about how hospitals can better serve the needs of patients when it comes to all types of healing.
Those who attended were able to learn about topics from medical ethics and patients rights to crisis ministry in a clinical setting.
Father Hutchens said the conference furthered his belief that patients need spiritual healing which is an integral part of reaching a full recovery.
