Hospital board accepts federal settlement
The Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Board of Directors held a special called meeting Monday morning to vote on whether or not to accept a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission.
The board voted unanimously to accept the terms of the agreement.
"It is a binding legal document as far as Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital is concerned as of today and if you assume that the Hospital Authority will once again adopt the same action that it did in its earlier meeting, it will be binding on both the authority and the hospital," said Thomas Chambliss, Vice President of Phoebe Putney Health System General Council.
Moving forward, there will be a 30 day comment period for anyone who wants to voice their opinion about the agreement.
Phoebe officials say after a final order is issued by the Federal Trade Commission, a motion will be made to the federal district county in Albany to dissolved the pending injunction.
