After the fireworks show is over take precaution to stay safe while driving at night.

Officials say traffic deaths are more likely to happen at night than during the day.

If you plan on having an alcoholic beverage, designate a driver to get you home.

And if you are the driver, be prepared for heavy traffic. Officials say there will be delays so be patient.

"There's going to be a lot more traffic so we ask them to be a little more patient if they are delayed. There's going to be delays getting in and out of areas," said Cpl. John Segroves, with the Albany Police Department.

Also if traffic is jammed, remember to reduce your speed and keep a safe distance from the car in front of you.
