Historic changes at Albany YMCA
ALBANY, Ga. —
The YMCA is in the process of making historic changes in how your kids learn and grow.
The new Youth Development Department will include both childcare and aquatics. In the past, those two programs were in different departments.
An expert in both of those areas will oversee the day to day activities.
Kids will learn how to swim, and play other sports along with their normal Pre-K, after school, and summer program activities.
According to executives, this will help give kids a better experience, and give parents security knowing their kids are learning valuable life lessons.
“Our counselors and childcare are going to be able to talk to them about what did they learn in the swimming pool,” Chief Executive Officer Dan Gillan said. “There is a connection there, and by having one person with their focus day in and day out, that’s bridging that very important youth development aspect.”
The new structure will be put in place within the upcoming weeks.
