It's heating up in Southwest Georgia and the elderly are at risk.
Older people are more likely to have medical conditions or prescriptions that cause them to respond slower to changes in temperature.
Dr. Jacqueline Grant says that it's important to check in on the elderly frequently when it's hot.
Grant adds that "it's important because they are completely more vulnerable to heat affects than the rest of us, just like infants."
The heat can effect anyone of all ages. If you are out in the sun and heat, seek shade and remember to stay hydrated.
