High speed chase kicked off with crash

Moultrie police were led on a high speed chase Sunday morning that all started from an accident with a parked car.

Police report that, 17-year-old Austin Elliot crashed into a 2002 Honda Civic in the parking lot of the Moultrie Inn on First Avenue Southeast.

The owner of the damaged vehicle spotted Elliot's pickup truck fleeing the scene and reported it to police who later caught up with Elliot.

Elliot than reportedly sped off leading police through red lights with speeds in excess of 90-miles per hour. Elliot would eventually lose control of the vehicle sliding down into a ditch where police took him into custody.

Moultrie police report that Elliot smelled strongly of alcohol and several containers, one of them opened, were found inside his vehicle.

Elliot was charged as follows: attempting to elude officers, minor driving under the influence, reckless driving, open container violation, possession of alcohol by a minor, improper passing, running a red light, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to stop at an accident with damages.
