The Dougherty County Health Department says many people do not know about the services they offer at their Slappey Boulevard location.
So they decided to take time during National Public Health Week to introduce the public to their facilities. The health department says they have services for women's health, adult health, an immunization program as well as an environmental health program which completes items including health inspections.
"The newest one is our centering program where we provide prenatal care for women who are pregnant up to 36 weeks. We also have our WIC program," says Karen Salary, Director of the Child Health Program. She says the WIC program at the Dougherty County Health Department is a supplemental nutrition program for kids from infant to five years of age.
The theme for this week is "A Healthier America Begins Today" and features different sub-themes each day during this week.
