The Dougherty County Health Department held free health screenings Saturday.
It was all in recognition of National HIV Testing Day. The department offered free blood pressure, weight, and oxygen screenings. And of course, HIV tests with were available. Program Manager Chanel Scott-Dixon says testing is especially important in this community. "In Dougherty County we're noticing an increase in our younger population with HIV. So we want to come up with a way to get awareness out there and let people know the only way you can educate yourself about HIV is to know your status" says Scott-Dixon
The HIV test results only take about 20 minutes to get back. Officials say they hope to have more of these events in the future.
