After the Atkinson County Health Department was shut down three weeks ago because of mold, patrons now have a facility to visit for their health concerns.

Clinic officials have been operating out of their new facility for about a week. They say it took about two weeks to move into the old building because it had to be cleaned.

County officials say they've already had an engineer look into the cause of the mold.

"I'm awaiting a report on hopefully the first of next week about the proper steps to take to correct the problem and then when we get that information, I'll present that to the board," said Terry Morris, Atkinson County Commission Chair.

Morris says he can't put a time frame on when the facility will be mold free because it's going to take a while to do the job properly.
