Gunman opens fire on Albany police

Some tense moments for Albany police Saturday when a man they were trying to apprehend opened fire.

It happened at 1625 Pineview Avenue around three in the morning Saturday.

29-year-old Anderson Williams has been arrested in the case.

A witness told police Williams was walking around the neighborhood looking for a fight.

While the officer was there, he spotted Williams walking down the street.

Williams disappeared for a moment, the officer then heard a single gunshot.

The report states Williams opened fire on a group of people on Pineview.

Williams then started walking towards the officer and fired another shot.

Williams disappeared again, but officers found him under a Ford Explorer and took him into custody and charged him with five counts of aggravated assault.

The report also stated alcohol was a factor.
