GSP confirms one death in Mitchell County accident

Georgia State Patrol in Thomasville confirms a 23-year-old from Okeechobee, Florida is dead after a wreck on Wednesday night in Mitchell County.

Katherine Clay was driving her Volkswagen Passat south on State Route 93 with 28-year-old Milendy Powe of Whigham when Clay failed to stop at the intersection of 93 and Highway 37.

63-year-old Roy Jackson of Camilla was driving west on 37 when he hit the Passat's driver side door ejecting Clay â" who was not wearing her seatbelt â" from the car.

GSP says Clay was pronounced dead on the scene. Powe and Jackson were transported to Archbold Hospital in Thomasville where Rowe was sent into surgery and Jackson was released.

Powe's current condition is unknown at this time.

Georgia State Patrol is in Mitchell County on the scene of a bad accident on State Route 93 near the 17th mile marker which is close to Sale City.

At this time GSP confirms that two vehicles were involved however they haven't released the names of the people involved because the're still investigating the accident .
