Girls Inc. prepares girls for a collegiate summer
Girls Inc. has put a twist on summer camp by offering a 10-week course for 6-18 year old girls that focuses on collegiate activities called Strong, Smart and Bold University.
Girls Inc. Executive Director Sherrell Alexander says they club is a way to get young girls to adopt an academic goal in their future to discourage them from losing interest as they get older.
"Being able to allow them to see college as a future goal is something that keeps them focused on their academics and focused on being a good student so that they don't want to drop out of school and they will continue on to graduation," said Alexander.
The program begins on May 28th and runs Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the East Campus located on 1112 Inverness Road, but will offer field trips that will take the girls on college campus tours and more.
Parents can take advantage of a $50 discount and waived application fee by signing up for early enrollment until May 22nd for $400, or for $450 after May 22nd with a $25.00 application fee.
