The Dougherty County Rotary Club welcomed Sam Shugart as their guest speaker during Tuesday's luncheon.
Shugart spoke about the upcoming music festival he's organizing which has been officially named "The Georgia Throwdown" as a statewide event.
Shugart says it's neat to see the plans coming together and he is asking for everyone in the community to help with the event.
"It's really fun because we're starting to see the community come forward and all the community partners and corporate partners come in. Everybody's injecting a little something and it just keeps growing and growing and growing every day," said Shugart.
The concert is scheduled for October 12th-14th at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds and will feature hundreds of vendors selling food and merchandise as well as five full-size stages to be used by over 100 bands.
Shugart says negotiations are being made with both local artists and big names like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Chris Young but are not yet finalized.
