Georgia Supreme Court weighs in on Atkinson County case

The Georgia Supreme Court released an opinion today that throws out a particular charge against Rashaad Bester.

On Sunday October 26, 2008 Tri-County 911 responded to a call in reference to a body on the side of the road in Pearson.

After searching the area police found the body on the side of McCranie Street; the person was later identified as Shawna Webber.

Rashaad Bester was arrested by the Atkinson County Sheriff's Office in connection to the murder of Webber.

Bester was later convicted on charges of murder, sodomy, and aggravated assault.

The last charge, of aggravated assault, was removed because the offence merged by law with his murder conviction
