      Georgia resident arrested for attempting to transport marijuana

      A 22-year-old Conyers, Georgia resident has been arrested and charged for trying to transport marijuana from Harlingen, Texas to Atlanta.

      Police say that on February 24, officers with the Harlingen Police Department made contact with the Valley International Airport Police in reference to a possible narcotics courier.

      After an investigation, the agencies arrested Aja Morae Jones for intentionally and knowingly attempting to transport 49.8 pounds of marijuana and worth about $1,470.

      Jones has been charged with possession of marijuana in the 3rd degree.
