Georgia Power has donated $24,000 to help the Flint RiverQuarium to help the organization continue its commitment to promote conservation through aquatic exhibits and educational, experiences by interpreting the unique ecosystems of the Flint River watershed.
They say that the donation is the latest way the company is working to support the RiverQuarium - the Albany Chapter of the Citizens of Georgia Power has participated in various cleanup projects at the RiverQuarium over the past several years.
Citizens of Georgia Power is the company's service organization that encourages employees to actively participate in volunteer projects through chapters around the state.
The donation was made as part of an initiative called "50 for Albany." The 50 for Albany is an initiative where 50 Albany businesses came together to raise $500,000 for two years to help keep the Flint RiverQuarium funded until grants and other funding sources are identified. The funds will go toward operating expenses for the RiverQuarium.
