Georgia NFB President provides outlet for blind residents
National Federation of the Blind of Georgia President Garrick Scott spoke at the Albany Advocacy Resource Center Tuesday evening about ways for blind residents to become more knowledgeable about their community.
Scott told listeners about a service that reads magazines, newspapers and television content over the phone to keep these residents well-informed in the hopes that it will also inspire them to become involved.
"All that sort of thing would spark an interest in someone, it won't be the same thing for everyone but then they work a little harder to find transportation and come up with creative and alternative techniques to get to those destinations," said Scott.
Scott also spoke about programs his division offers and says all of these resources are given as a way to help the blind feel more connected to others and the area they live in.
