Saturday marks the very first day of Black History Month, and during the month the Civil Rights Institute has a lot going on.
On the February 6th, Attorney Ben Crump will be a guest speaker.
On the 8th, the Freedom Singers will be singing from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
And on the 27th a combined choir made up of all the Dougherty County High Schools along with the Freedom Singers will be belting tunes.
Interim Director, Frank Wilson with Civil Rights Institute says, "anytime that we can get the community together regardless of what it is that it would be a good thing to do but especially for Black History Month because of the history that the Civil Rights movement had here in Albany, Georgia."
If you plan on making it out, the Institute will be open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
