      GDOT to temporarily close part of Albany highway

      The Georgia Department of Transportation has closed down a stretch of U.S. Route 82 near exit 5A for a maintenance project. The road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22nd. / MGN Online


      The Georgia Department of Transportation has closed down a stretch of U.S. Route 82 near exit 5A for a maintenance project. The road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22nd.

      According to Devon Gibbs from the Georgia Department of Transportation, the project is to expand exit 5A in order to eliminate exit 5B. Temporary barrier walls will be placed along the westbound lane of Rt. 82.

      The maintenance project is expected to last until December 2015.

      The speed limit throughout the area of maintenance will be reduced from 65 mph to 55 mph. drivers are asked to use caution, slow down and pay attention to traffic conditions in work zones.
