GDOT allows fatality memorial signs on highways

Memorial signs are now allowed on federal and state highways in Georgia

Families who've lost loved ones in traffic accidents on federal and state highways are now permitted to post signs memorializing their loss.

The news came Wednesday from the Georgia Department of Transportation.The signs are 15-inch, round white signs that read "drive safely; in memory" and the victim's name.

The family or friend can request the sign for a $100 fee and the sign will be posted for one year and then given to the sponsor.
