GBI make arrest in Cairo child death

      Smiley faces charges of malice murder, two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of cruelty to children. / GBI

      The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has announced that their department, along with the Cairo Police Department and Grady County Sheriff's Office have made an arrest in the death of a 3-month-old infant and injuries to a 7-month-old.

      Officials say that 29-year-old Marcus Smiley Jr. of Cairo was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with the October 3rd death of 3-month-old Mia Williams and charged with malice murder, aggravated battery and cruelty to children.

      Smiley is also charged with aggravated battery and cruelty to children for injuries that a 7 month old sustained on June 17. That child was treated at Archbold Medical Center and Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
