The Albany Police Department's Gang Unit held a shoe give away Friday afternoon.

Starting at noon, families were invited to pick up shoes for their children ranging form infants to high school age.

In total, 250 pairs of shoes were donated to the gang unit by Wal-Mart, Sears, City Trends as well as a few private individuals.

Officers say this was a great way to show they care about the community they work in.
