Here is the FOX 31 News Facebook Story of the Day: Does last weekend's heat and humidity mean Southwest Georgia is in for another long, hot summer?
If you spent any time outdoors this past weekend, you know temperatures reached well into the upper 80's with high humidity and even an early arrival of the region's most pesky summer visitors â" gnats.
FOX 31 Meteorologist Mat Ortiz says it's not unusual for local temperatures to climb into the low 90's, even in April.
But he also warns that doesn't mean Southwest Georgia is off the hook for a steamy summer.
"The three month outlook, they actually have us above average," says Ortiz. "So that means what we have right now is pretty much what we can expect. We can expect an extremely hot and humid summer."
