Foster parents celebrated in Tift County
Foster parents in Tift County are being celebrated on Friday for helping change children's lives.
May is National Foster Care Month, and there are 120 kids in foster care in the county.
According to Tift County Division of Family and Children Services, it takes a village to raise a child. Some children are taken out of bad situations, and the foster parents are there to show love and care.
"They are the saviors for kids," DFCS County Director Annie Clara said. "We are just so grateful for them and we could not do the job that we do without them."
According to Clara, there is a need for more foster parents in the area. Anyone interested should contact 1-877-210-KIDS.
People can also get involved by donating clothes. In many cases, children are dropped off without extra clothing and DFCS might not have their size.
