A former Sylvester fire chief has been indicted on rape related charges.

44-year-old Jody Yarbrough was taken into police custody Wednesday afternoon. The Sylvester Police Department started an investigation after receiving a complaint from a female.

Yarbrough is facing charges of three counts of aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, sexual battery, and false imprisonment.

He served as fire chief for about three years before resigning in 2012.

It's important to note that indictments are only allegations against individuals. A defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
