Former Albany Humane Society Director arrested
Albany police have arrested and charged the former director of the Albany Humane Society for an incident involving a cat back in May 2017.
Police officials say that 54-year-old Andrea Sartiano has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after investigators say she instructed a shelter employee to kill a cat in a manner against the organization's policy.
Both were fired as a result of the incident and a report was made with APD.
After being interviewed by investigators on Wednesday, Sartiano was arrested and taken into custody.
A second person was announced as being wanted on Thursday in connection to the incident.
Albany police say that 27-year-old Michael Mackey was also wanted on an aggravated cruelty to animal charge, but was arrested Thursday night around 8 p.m.
