Second Harvest Food Bank of South Georgia in connection with Terrell Resource Center in Dawson held a food drive this morning for residents of the community.

Hundreds poured into the community center lining up for bread, canned goods, water, lemonade, and snacks for their kids.

"This is our second annual food drive, and it's just an easy way to give back to the community and provide them with something everyone needs," said program director, Dorothy Tomlin.

Last year the event brought in 300 people, and Tomlin says in 2013 they definitely exceeded that mark.

"We had a steady stream of people coming in, and I think we probably topped our 300 number from last year by quite a bit," said Tomlin.

Organizers are calling the event a success and are looking forward to doing it again in 2014.
