Every year, an organization named American Rivers puts out a list called "America's Most Endangered Rivers."
This year, our very own Flint River is number two on the list. Officials say the Flint River is threatened by declining river flows and outdated water management that is drying up the river system.
Flint River Keeper Gordon Rogers says they are already seeing some of the tributaries dry up in the northern part of the Flint, just south of Atlanta. Rogers says once the tributaries start drying up, it won't be long before the main parts of the river start to dry up too.
Rogers also says local officials need to do everything they can to save the river because in Southwest Georgia, a region heavy in agriculture, relies on this source of water.
