Five JCPenney stores are set to close in Georgia after the company released a list of closures Friday morning.

The closing Georgia JCPenney stores are at:

  • Dublin Mall in Dublin

  • Macon Mall in Macon

  • Milledgeville Mall in Milledgeville

  • Gateway Plaza in Thomasville

  • Tifton Mall in Tifton

Company officials say that across the United States, approximately 5,000 positions will be affected by the closures, but they are in the process of identifying relocation opportunities within the company for esteemed leaders according to the release.

Most stores are expected to begin liquidation on April 17.

The closures come as part of plan announced in February to return the company to profitability.
