An ordinary traffic stop turns into an impromptu chase and drug bust for Tift County Sheriff's Deputies.
On Wednesday, Tift County Sheriff's deputies reported that they were engaged in a traffic stop on Ferrylake Road in Tift County with 28-year-old Terrance Robinson of Fitzgerald, Ga.
Deputies say that during the stop, Robinson overpowered the deputies and fled the location in the deputies patrol vehicle. Other Tift County Sheriff's Office units were in the area and pursued Robinson in the stolen patrol car.
Investigators say that during the pursuit, Robinson crashed into another Tift County Sheriff's Office vehicle. Robinson abandoned the patrol car shortly thereafter and ran on foot into a wooded area. He was apprehended after a brief search.
According to deputies, Robinson was uninjured in the incident and was transported to the Tift Count Jail where he is being held. Robinson is being charged with one count trafficking in cocaine, two counts felony obstruction of an officer, two counts criminal interference with government property, one count theft by taking motor vehicle, five counts aggravated assault on a peace officer and multiple traffic related violations.
