The First Lady of Georgia, Mrs. Sandra Deal was in Albany Tuesday afternoon checking on the Marine Corps Logistics Base and the Lily Pad Sane Center.
Mrs. Deal says she wanted to visit Southwest Georgia because both the base and the Lily Pad receive grants from the Governor's Office of Children and Family Services. She says if the state gives money to people to use for projects, the state has a responsibility to check on the programs to make sure the money is being used responsibly. "I'm very impressed with this facility because it is beautiful. It's calming. I can imagine the children who are upset and scared would find comfort and peace in this environment, and also find the help they need" Deal said when discussing the Lily Pad.
Governor Nathan Deal's wide says she is proud of all of the work the Lily Pad and the Marine Corps Logistics Base do for those they serve.
