Albany firefighters spent Sunday night battling a house fire in the 2600 block of Northgate Road.

Battalion Chief Keith Ambrose with the Albany Fire Department confirms that when the crew arrived, they saw heavy flames showing from the house near the pool.

The fire spread quickly to the attic before the flames could be extinguished.

At this time it is believed that the fire began in the bathroom and no foul play is suspected. Investigator Sam Harris will be on scene Monday to determine the cause.

The home is a total loss and the family is staying with a friend tonight.
