Fire cause $30,000 worth of damage
Fire fighters with the Albany Fire Department started their day pretty battling a huge blaze.
Battalion Chief Keith Ambrose with AFD says around 3:00 a.m. they were called to the 2200 block of South Madison Street where a home was engulfed in heavy flames.
He says residents in the home were alerted of the flames when someone nearby came knocking on the door.
Battalion Chief Ambrose says, "the flames spread from the front porch to the living room and the kitchen which did a heavy fire damage to those three areas and extensive heat and smoke damage to the rest of the unit."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
There's about $30,000 worth of damage.
