FBSOTD: Common crimes committed by Albany's youth
For Fox 31's Facebook story of the day people wanted to know what criminal charge is most common among young adults in Albany?
According to information released by the Albany Police Department the answer is shoplifting.
In the last year there have been 81 shoplifting cases by youth. Burglary comes in second place with 54 occurrences.
Dougherty County's D.A. says most of the time young burglars are caught working with an older accomplice.
"The juveniles are the ones that are sent into the houses. They are the ones that go inside and break into the house and bring property out to the adults who then take it sell it," said Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards.
He says juveniles are often tricked into criminal behavior because they believe the law will treat them differently than adults.
The following is a list of the top five crimes committed by young people in Albany:

- Theft by Shoplifting - 81 cases
- Burglary - 54 cases
- Criminal Trespass - 49 cases
- Simple Battery - 35 cases
- Disorderly Conduct - 33 cases
