Fatality in morning wreck on Interstate 75 northbound

The Georgia Department of Transportation sent out a press release regarding the closure of I-75. / File

UPDATE: 2:30 p.m.

Sgt. J.C. Roberts with the Georgia State Patrol has confirmed to FOX 31 News that there was one fatality, and two injuries from this morning's accident on I-75. The two injured were transported to Tift Regional Medical Center.

GSP isn't releasing the name of the person who died, nor the people hurt.

The Georgia Department of Transportation sent out a press release Tuesday morning regarding the closure of I-75 northbound:

"A motor vehicle accident has closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 75. Traffic is being routed off I75 at Exit 63, onto Whiddon Mill Road, to Carpenter Road and then to Zion Hope Road. Traffic is being let back onto I75 at Exit 64. Lanes are expected to be closed for the next three or four hours. Detours are being maintained by local law enforcement and the Georgia State Patrol. Motorists should expect delays and are asked to be patient, drive slowly and exercise extreme caution in the area."
