Second Update (4/30/13 10:00 AM):
Officials with the Georgia State Patrol have identified the victim in last night's fatal car crash as 54-year-old William Malone.
Investigators say Malone was traveling south on Tarva Road in his Mini Cooper when he crossed into the north bound lane as he a rounded a curve. 32-year-old Kimberly McGie was driving North on Trava and left almost 100 feet of skid marks trying to avoid Malone. The two collided on the Dougherty County side of the county line.
McGie was taken to the hospital with a broken neck in serious condition.First Update (9:25 PM):
Officials working the accident say they're dealing with a two car, head-on collision on Tarva Road. Debris from the accident is strewn 400 feet around the vehicles. Officials present include the Albany Fire Department, EMS, Dougherty County Police, Baker County officials, Georgia State Patrol, and the Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler.
The fire department did a thermal scan of nearby areas to make sure no one else was ejected from either vehicle. At this time officials aren't sure what caused the accident, but they continue to investigate.ORIGINAL STORY:
Dougherty County 911 officials are reporting a fatal car accident has happened at the intersection off of Tarva Road.
Reports indicate that only one vehicle was involved, with two passengers inside. A female was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, the other, a male, has been pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident occurred just after 8:00 PM Monday night directly on the Dougherty County and Baker County line.
