After just one day of testing out "Taco Truck Thursdays" in Downtown Albany, the Taqueria Garcia truck has expanded its schedule due to its success.
Marina Garcia says after her family opened a stand-alone restaurant and didn't see a consistent profit, they decided to try their luck on the truck.
Since that decision, Garcia says her family has had a much better experience selling their authentic Mexican food. The family attributes their success to a strategy of going to the people, not making them come to you.
"When you can go to where the people are at and not have the people come to you, they just appreciate it that we actually are wanting them to buy our food so we go where they're at," said Garcia.
The family says they'll park their truck â" which offers tacos, burritos, quesadillas and tamales -- every Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. behind the Flint Riverquarium. The truck accepts cash only.
