Some of the community along with family and friends are rallying behind Contralus Brown and Kasheika Thomas after they were arrested for making a video showing a child being kicked to the ground.
Nikkesia Lewis reached out to FOX 31 Friday morning saying she wanted to be the voice for her siblings, Brown and Thomas.
Lewis says the situation has been blown out of proportion and she wants to see the charges dropped. She also told us she feels people don't know the story behind the video and are making unfair accusations.
Another sibling of Brown and Thomas, Quadreka Thomas, was very emotional when talking about her brother and sister. She told us the situation is hurting her family and the children. Quadreka is helping to look after the one year old in the video and says he's continuously asking and crying for his mom.
Their mother, Essie Thomas, says she's trying to stay off social media but she knows what people are saying and she wants them to know her children are good people. She says if she could pick any person in the world to be her mom, it would be Rasheika Thomas.
One by one various supporters of the two came out to voice their opinions. Multiple people said these videos are something Brown does to lift the spirits of the community. A fan of his says she watches his videos every day just to get a laugh.
According to Essie the two are still behind bars and were denied bond. When asked what she wants to see done from here, she said she wants the charges dropped.
Police say they're continuing to investigate the issue and are determining whether or not to press charges against the person who filmed the video. Sgt. Jon Segroves told FOX 31 DFACS will be looking into whether or not the child in the video is in a stable environment.
