Family farms up and running for over 100 years

The Worth County Chamber of Commerce held a meeting Tuesday to discuss plans for their Farmer's Appreciation Dinner.

This is an event they hold every year to honor the local farmers and let them know how important they are to the community.

This year their guests of honor will be the 11 centennial farmers in the county. The farms these farmers work on have been running and in the same family for 100 years or more.

Officials say usually farms sell after 10 or 20 years so to be around for 100 years is quite an accomplishment.

The event will be held in September but they've been planning for it since May. They already have $7,700 from sponsors to go towards the dinner.
