False armed robbery leads to arrest

On December 11, 2013 just after 8:00 AM, Jason Day went to the Valdosta Police Department to file a report indicating an armed robbery.
Day told officers that at 2:00AM in the Toombs Street and West Hill Avenue area, he was robbed at gun point, assaulted and forced to drive around town.
After three hours of questioning, Day admitted that he was not telling the truth and that the incident involved an attempted narcotics transaction.
Due to the waste of multiple man hours from dectectives and officers with the Valdosta Police Department, Day was arrested and charged with giving a false statement and obstruction.
Day was transported to the Lowndes County Jail.
