Some local alleys could soon get a facelift.

The Albany City Commission and Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard were each given their choice of an alley that want to see spruced up.

They are Yorktown Alley in the 2600 block of Yorktown Avenue.

4th Avenue Alley in the 1000 block of Slappy Blvd.

Winterwood Alley in the 2800 block of Winterwood Avenue

Sharon Alley in the 2300 block of Sharon Drive

Colquitt Alley in the 1400 block of Colquitt Avenue.

Harding Alley in the 2000 block of Harding Street.

Whispering Pines Alley in the 1100 block Whispering Pines Road.

Albany City Commissioner Jon Howard says, "it's the aesthetic of the community and it cuts down on the water that's running in the alley and the bumps and so it certainly makes the neighborhood look much better."

If the city commission approves this project it will cost over a million dollars and would take 240 days to complete, and would start in September.
