The story you voted for as the Fox 31 news Facebook story of the day is "Is all the hype about cash for gold really true? And how much jewelry do I have to sell to get any money back?"
We talked with the owner of Allen's Jewelers about it and he said gold is very profitable right now, but make sure to take it to a local jewelry store instead of sending it off somewhere.
Allen says the big cash for gold industries may short change you--in fact, they're famous for it.
He remembers one lady who got back more than she expected.
"She sent her stuff off to cash for gold, she had a pile of jewelry and the price they made her was like $190-something. She brought it in here to me, and we looked at everything, of course we did offer for the stones and cash for gold didn't, but ours was over $600 for the same stuff. She was shocked. She had to sit down," said Allen.
In case you want to cash in, Allen's is open Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
