      Explorer Post forming in Albany

A new group is forming for young men and women in Southwest Georgia.

The Albany Dougherty Search and Rescue Team and The Boy Scouts are forming an "Explorer Post" to help teach young people life lessons about public safety.

The group will meet Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. behind Fire Station Number 2 off of Palmyra Road. The Explorer Post meets the second Tuesday evening of every month as well as the third Saturday of the month. The group is open to young men and women ages 14-20 who are interested in career exploration in various areas of public safety.

The group plans on providing students with an opportunity to learn about public safety career fields and the opportunity to network with professionals already working in the various areas.

Future events from the group include "Save-A-Friend" day and a "Lost-In-The-Woods" outing.
