      Empowering women at Albany State University

      On Friday, Albany State Police Department hosted a Women Empowerment Seminar for the female freshman.The seminar included a panel of business women in the Albany community, where students were able to ask them questions about how they became so successful.Police officials say the seminar is geared to the freshman because they are the future of the school and they want to see them succeed.Lieutenant Investigations Commander Anita Allen with the Albany State University Police Department says, with the different women's dedication and support to the community and desire to reach out and help others really makes a difference."Panelists for the first Women Empowerment Seminar included Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit/Albany Police Department Captain Benita Childs, Lifelink of Georgia education specialist Carla Hawkins, FOX 31 President and CEO Brenda Holloway, Community Plans & Liaison Officer at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany's Pamela Jackson, Chosen to Conquer's Colette Jenkins, Solutions Christian Counseling Dr. Belinda Mattox, and Albany Community Hospice Medical Director and Dougherty County School Board Member Lane Price.
