      Emergency ready before disaster strikes

      September is known as National Preparedness Month, and to help educate the city of Tifton and other surrounding areas The Tift County EMA hosted The Emergency Preparedness Fair.

      September is known as National Preparedness Month, and to help educate the city of Tifton and other surrounding areas The Tift County EMA hosted The Emergency Preparedness Fair.

      Vendors included, The National Weather Service, the American Red Cross, Tift County Sheriff's Office, and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.

      Tift County EMA Deputy Director Vickie Hickman says, "disasters are not always in the form of natural weather, it can come in all forms and so people need to be aware."

      She adds that this is the perfect time to reach everyone that they possibly can to educate them on how to be prepared for disasters.
