For FOX 31's Facebook story of the day, people wanted to know just how much sleep should the average person get per night.

Medical professionals say eight hours of sleep should be the target goal for everyone and at the very least people should try to get at least five to six hours per night.

They say getting the maximum of eight hours helps the body rejuvenate itself.

Albany State University health care professionals say there are some things that people should be mindful of during the day that may keep them from getting proper rest.

"They want to avoid caffeine, sodas, teas, energy drinks those kinds of things because that will hinder your ability to fall asleep," says Dr. Vicki Phillips, Family Nurse Practitioner and Director for ASU Student Health Services.
