Educators Return For American Educators Week

More than one thousand retired Dougherty county educators returned to their former schools today. They were honored as part of American education week. The annual event honors retirees with a luncheon. One special guest at Lincoln elementary's celebration was 98-year-old Leola Caldwell, who retired from the school forty years ago. Caldwell says, "Coming back here, I had no idea I'd live to see this honey, oh goodness! It's so beautiful over here too and to see such lovely children, I had no idea this school would be way over here in the city. We were out in the country." Caldwell and others enjoyed song and dance presentations by students. Twenty-five other schools participated with similar events.
