The Economic Development Commission's budget will remain the same for the 2010-2011 year. In addition to $250,000 from the business community, the commission has requested $250,000 from both the City of Albany and Dougherty County for their budget.
Officials say their budget largely depends on the financial support from the city and county. If the city and county make cuts to the EDC's budget they will be forced to make adjustments in programs and it would directly affect the way they market and promote Albany and Dougherty County.
The commission also received a $100,000 gift from a private investor to help protect the Marine Corps Logistics Base against BRAC, or Base Realignment and Closure Commission.
