The Albany Dougherty Drug Unit had a busy Tuesday busting two meth labs.

The first one stemmed from a routine traffic stop on Radium Springs Road. Police pulled over a vehicle and discovered a meth lab in the car shortly after 1 PM Tuesday.

Major Bill Berry, Commander of the Albany Dougherty Drug Unit, says that the passenger, Wyatt Lastinger, ran from the vehicle and officers were able to apprehend him.

Berry says this incident is being classified as a mobile lab and adds that these types of labs are generally used to support the user's personal habit.

Later in the day, they received information from probation officers about possible meth lab at Superior Creek Lodge on North Slappey Boulevard. Around 4 PM, officers discovered a meth lab in one of the rooms and finished product in the ceiling.

They say they can prove that the lab was set up for at least a week, but evidence suggests they were there longer.

Berry said the last time he can remember busting two meth labs in one day was in 2003.

The incidents are not believed to be related and a total of six people have been arrested between the two crimes.
