      Drug bust in Tift County leads to two arrests

      A drug bust in Tift County yields drugs, guns and money.

      On August 5th, Tift County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force, arrested Tifton residents Arthur James Murrell, 68 years of age, and Mary Jordan Murrell, 64 years of age. Both were arrested after Task Force Agents and Tift County Sheriffs Deputies served a search warrant on their residence located at 212 West 13th Street Tifton, Georgia.

      The search warrant was the result of a several month investigation focusing on the Murrells' drug distribution activity. During the search, law enforcement seized 32 bags of powdered cocaine, 97 bags of marijuana, 187 Hydrocodone tablets, 4 handguns and $7,181.00 in currency.

      Arthur James Murrell was charged with Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Schedule II Hydrocodone with the Intent to Distribute and 4 counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Mary Murrell was charged with Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of Schedule II Hydrocodone with the Intent to Distribute.
